Introduction
The idMEDIA News Digest began on March 25th 2004. Its aim was to summarise the major issues and events at the student, national and international level.
By year end, 23 editions had been published, with a readership exceeding 300 regular readers. What was more interesting however, was that although only 300-400 people may have read it, anyone connected to student politics at Sydney University knew about the most recent Digest article. As a University of Sydney Union Board Director at the time described it, it was the publication that "the people that matter read". Not a bad start for an underfunded, verbose e-zine, that cost less than a Flat White to make and yet stirred the passions of every pollie on campus.

Important Note
The Journalists' Society and the Media and Communications Society amalgamated in September 2004. Links to articles, e-mail accounts and the internal navigation in the 2004 Digest editions may not be accurate, due to a massive reorganisation in the idMedia website (and its governing body). Volume One has been left for historical reasons, as a remnant of the former Journalists' Society.
